Every quarter Project Manager, Emmanuel Mwambe, produces a Report for the Trustees. They are always interesting to read and provide a ‘window’ on the ongoing Trade Aid activities in Mikindani. Here is Emmanuel’s most recent Report, enjoy the read!

Project Managers Report December 2024

November was busy month for the training area where all departments worked very hard to make sure they complete all the taining topics ontime. I would like to confirm that all departments managed to complete all the training and did reviews includings exams for English and hotel training. December is the final month where all trainees are preparing to start new life, 8 of the trainees from this group have arleady get employeed as follow:

3. Hamisi Uwesu – Msimbati Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation Staff Restaurant

6. Zuhura Ibrahim – Newala Disrict

7. Subira Chala – Arbab Tanga Seafood Restaurant – Tanga Regional

8. Naima Shakuru – Arbab Tanga Seafood Restaurant – Tanga Regional

Trainees and Staff Study Tour at Dar es salaam

One of the unforgetable event happen in November it was the trip to Dar es slaam for all trainees and 6 staff travel to Dar es salaam to visit 3 five stars hotel for exposure and study tour. Madame Rhoda organised all the hotel visits together with Lucas, the tour was very successful and create long term friendship between hotels and Trade Aid.

Governors House

Governors House is ready for use and has been officially opened The Municipal Director opened the building for use. He congratulated Trade Aid for the very good job, and he promised to work very close with Trade Aid.

Different school continue visit Mikindani and purchase their lunch at the Old Governor House.

The Restaurant at the Old Governo House:

After the Old Samaki Restaurant moved from Old Slave Market building and shift to the Old Governor House, the business now is picking very fast, all students visits Mikkindani purchase food from their. We agreed with the ladis who run the restaurant and agree that the group will start paying rent from end of January.

 

The team from the National Museum had a meeting with Trade Aid Local Committee with PM and discussed about their work here, the team ask the Local Committee to help them to work here in Mikindani and be the key contacts. As we understand the National Museum did renovation of the Old Customs house but the building didn’t survived after and they lost a lots of money which was used to renovate that about 250,millions shillings.

Mikindani Museum:

Mr Robert is here on the three weeks visit and he’s been working very hard especial on te back garden, he’s been seen a lots of  school students and other visitors increase rapid.

 

Graduation Ceremony

We invite the Municipal Director to be the guest of honour to our graduation on 11 Dec 2024 were our20 Trainees will be complete their training and received certificates, I would like to welcome all of you to join us.

We will have new Trainees Interview on the 13 December 2024, more than 65 taineed have applied arleady.

Hotel Business:

Hotel business during November was very good as we saw the number of booking increased especial group booking and bookings for Christmas, this give us a good endication for next year.
